Determining new extension numbers
If you wish to change the default numbering plan, and need to determine
the extension number that will be assigned to a specific telephone, perform
the following procedure:

Step Action
1 Identify the line card to which the telephone is connected. Take the
card slot number associated with the card and subtract 1.

Multiply this number by 16.

Add the first extension number in the new numbering plan.

Identify the unit number the telephone is terminated on and add it
to the result obtained in Step 3.

Example:
Assume the new numbering plan starts at extension number 4500. You wish
to know the extension number of the telephone connected to card 8, unit 12:
1 Subtract 1 from the card slot number (8 - 1):=

Note: If you are using a three digit numbering plan, follow the same
procedure.
Example:
The new three digit numbering plan starts at extension number 300, and
you wish to know the extension number of the telephone connected to card
8 unit 12:
